I'm soo very aware that there are hurting people around us.
I hesitated to post my joy yesterday concerning the arrival of Mark's 'new' car, but while contemplating it, the Lord reminded me of Job. He suffered heart-wrenching, tragic sorrows in Job 1...
"20 Then Job arose and tore his robe and shaved his head and fell on the ground and worshiped (?!?!)
21 And he said, “Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked shall I return. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.”
22 In all this Job did not sin or charge God with wrong."
I pray, though I know some may not fully understand, my reason for posting the picture of Mark's new car is to publicly thank the Lord and praise Him after we'd publicly made everyone aware of the hit and run accident in October! Thank you to many of you who have supported us through prayer and encouragement! I hope you know how much it blessed and encouraged us to know you were there for us!
But yesterday, I wanted to tell the rest of the story. The LORD has blessed us, Mark especially, more than He blessed us/him before, BECAUSE this is who God is!!
I want to praise the Lord in all things, not just in the giving and the taking, but because of who He is.
I want to know Him in all the seasons of life. I'm thankful I have a Christian heritage that has allowed me to see my grandparents, parents, aunts and uncles grieve, yet they endured and trusted the Lord as He lead them into and through those hardships.
I want to be like them, and hopefully like Job who didn't blame or charge the Lord for the hardships allowed and used as tools to shape him.
Life is hard sometimes, but there are hard things very valuable, which contribute to, encourage, and strengthen faith and character!
I want to be willing to trust the Lord, to say, "Lord, You are doing ALL things well" and believe it, even when it hurts!
He does not make mistakes!!
Of course, I hope to one day hear my children proclaim this truth.
The Lord doesn't just give us good things when we need them; He satisfies our souls.
We are as dust, yet, He is still mindful of us, and He satisfies our deepest heart's longings.
The car is a huge answer to prayer, a great blessing, but it pales in comparison to the deepest longings of a man's soul that have been satisfied, namely in the person of Jesus!
Ohh, how I pray for those who are in a soul battle, for those who do not know or believe they can trust the Lord to meet their deepest needs!
He is their deepest need!!
8 Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love,
for his wondrous works to the children of man!
9 For he satisfies the longing soul,
and the hungry soul he fills with good things.
Psalm 107:8-9
